People's perception of time is about to change. Today, we only think about the hours we're awake. We never schedule work at 2 AM. But as agents become capable of operating asynchronously across longer time horizons, a new timeline opens up — one where progress never stops, even when you step away.
This parallel timeline will change our relationship with time and how we organize ourselves around it. In the future, work means designing for work to happen in the time beyond. The choices that we make in such a way will have more ripples down the line than ever before. Essentially, our leverage to time goes from 1:1 to 1:10. So in the future, doing good work means understanding this leverage, and designing organizations that redeem it to its maximum potential.
Future organizations.
We think future organizations should be modular, autonomous, and engineerable — just like GitHub repositories or Figma design files. Our work will constitute designing these functions to run autonomously, and collaborating with them. Each module should be able to run independently as a vital organ, but also fit into a larger system and respond to other modules, or humans in the loop. In the future, this will be what we call work.
People say that the days of programmers are over. We think everyone will become programmers. In the future, we will program complex systems to give us more leverage using the amazing tools that we have at hand. We shouldn't limit our imagination to what we once thought was software. Future programming will be about designing autonomous organizations and our choices are more intricate and impactful than ever before.
At roro, we believe that we do our most fulfilling work when we are being creative and working with other talented beings. We want to create the most fun, intuitive, and collaborative experiences to increase people's leverage towards the most precious frontier - time. And show everyone the new responsibility and possibility that they have in this new age.
